Main Flowchart

Lai Yan's GUI design and Flowchart

This is a rough sketch of the GUI for my main menu. All three are drawing images, with the A Famosa representing Historical Attraction, The lady representing Shopping Squares, and the building with a lot of people representing Night Life. All image will be in a dull and monotonous at first, but as the user mouse over either one of the image, the colour will appear. Each image will link to different category.

After clicking on either one of the image, a new page a will be loaded. At first, there will be only three big bubles appear on the top. In each of those bubles is a image of three different places, and as the mouse scroll over, the name of the place will appear. As user click on either one of the bubles, another three bubles will appear onto the right in a circle formation, and the other two places-bubles will be faded. These three new bubles are much smaller than the three bubles on top and each bubles are - Brief Description, How To Get There, and Photos. at the same time the three bubles appear, a image of the place selected will appear in the middle of the circle formation. As the icon for Brief Description and How To Get There clicked, all information will appear in the circle as well. As the Photo icon is clicked, another list of smaller bubles will appear to complete the circle. Each of these bubles are different image of the place, and when clicked the full image will appear in the circle as well. At the end of all these bubles there will be a END bubles which will be visible all the time. This buble will help user to go back to the main three bubles or back to the main menu.

This is the flow chart of my sub topic - Fascinating Places.

The General Graphical User Interface

Above is our application's general GUI. As mentioned in the first proposal, we will be maintaining the vintage style. The colour scheme that we chose is suitable to match with our vintage style.

Victoria's GUI design and Flowchart

The following is a sketch of my personal GUI of my aspect, "The Legacy". The main page consists of an ancient compass that has the pointers leading to other sub-topics of the historical aspect. Topics such as an ancient map, a picture archive, etc.. are all part of my work. when the cursor moves over the pointer in the compass, the icon will light up and users are able to click on their desired section. From the ancient map, there will be markers of historical significance that users are allowed to click on it to view more in detail. A vintage looking scrapbook layout page will display description of the particular selection, example, Parameswara. The picture archive serves like a photo album with an additional voice narrative, that explains the picture portrayed on the page.

The flowchart comprises of the detail from my individual aspect..History.

The Storyboard

The following is a rough storyboard for our application...

Cindy's GUI Design and Flowchart

This is my GUI for the "Local Cuisine" aspect that I will be doing. The background colour will remain vintage as planned and the strips of film will be black and white. The images on the strips, however will be coloured. The vertical film strip(low opacity/faded) serves as a simple design for the page.

The film strip will be moving, and when the mouse is rolled over an image, the image will emerge from the strip. Clicking on the image will bring the user to a new page with descriptions on the cuisine. At the bottom of the page, there will be two extra links that the user can click on; "Main Ingredients" and "Ways of Preparation". Once clicked, users will be directed to a new page.

Below is the flowchart for the aspect that I will be covering:

Agenda:
  • To decide on the location/ hometown that is to be studied.
  • To decide on a group’s name.
  • To designate a specific aspect for each of our member.

Discussions:

First agenda:
as it is already stated in the previous blog, the hometown of our choice is Melaka. Cindy suggested Melaka and was strongly supported by Victoria. This is because all of us are somehow familiar with Melaka and we are all fond of Melaka. Besides that, Melaka is also victoria’s hometown, and this brings convenience in a sense that she knows Melaka well, and will be able to tour us around easily. Thus, with these strong points, we all agreed to Melaka unanimously.

Second agenda:
we moved ahead with the meeting to decide on our group’s name. there were many suggestions given by all of us. after a few suggestions, B.I.T.C.H was mentioned. We created the initials for it almost instantaneously.

Third agenda:
we shortlisted several areas of Melaka that are of interest to the users. Four of them were chosen. History, food, places of interest, and culture.
Each of us were assigned to one aspect each based on our own experiences and interests.

Additional agenda:
we picked a suitable date to travel to Melaka to get our resources and information.

Tentative agenda for the next meeting:
  • To dicsuss on the design concept of the application such as the theme, demographics, etc…

Hello.. and welcome to B.I.T.C.H. I am Cindy Ariawaty Dharmapala, and a member of B.I.T.C.H together with three other friends of mine. As mentioned in the previous post, B.I.T.C.H is the iniatials for Best Idea To Charm Hunks. Well, we did not take a long time to figure out the name of this group, as we unanimously agreed on the first suggestion and also the location picked; Malacca. Interesting as it is, we will be having enormous work load and I am glad that I am with my friends here and am looking forward to work with them.
Ola everyone!!! I am Victoria Muthu and i am hereby introducing myself as a member of this group. One might wonder or rather raise an eyebrow while browsing upon our blog...specifically the title of our blog.."B.I.T.C.H"..now, do not let the title deceive you, as it is already explained by my lovely leader, Ms Tan..B.I.T.C.H are simply initials for the phrase "best idea to charm hunks". Though both the title and phrase may seem superficial, I am here to assure you that our blog and final work will affirm otherwise.
Our state of choice is Melaka, which all of us agreed unanimously. I am initially from Melaka, hence it gives me great pleasure to be researching and producing an application on my sweet hometown.
With this, i would like to conclude my post by saying that, though this will be both physically and mentally demanding project to complete, i am greatly sure that the four of us will walk hand in hand through this task and bring it all to fulfillment. Till then....

1st Proposal

Welcome to B.I.T.C.H.! This is a blog dedicated to our Media Authoring MCP1013 project. I am Miss Tan Lai Yan (1061107458), the group leader of this team. And I would like to introduce my group members - Miss Victoria Peter (1061106940), Miss Cindy Dharmapala (1061107461) and Miss Liyana Kamal (1061108395). Our group name is B.I.T.C.H., which stands for 'Best Idea To Charm Hunks' and none other meaning. The following is our first proposal for this project.

Proposal 1

State of our choice : Malacca
Suggested theme : Vintage
Aspects covered : Early History (Victoria Peter)
People & culture (Liyana Kamal)
Places of Interest (Tan Lai Yan)
Local Cuisine (Cindy Dharmapala)

Brief description of aspect
  1. Early History, this aspect is managed by Victoria Peter. This will be a ride in a time capsule back to the past. An interesting depiction of the early age of Malacca will be displayed in a clear and vibrant manner. Fascinating interactivity will be added to enhance the application for users such as games. A chronicle of Malacca’s life story will begin with the arrival of Parameswara in Malacca. This application suits all categories of users. Hence, the interaction in this aspect will definitely be user friendly and it will not be of hassle to its users.
  2. People & Culture, this aspect is managed by Liyana Kamal. Malacca is more colorful & unique with its people and culture. Thanks to the invaders, not to say it is a good thing, but thanks to them, our Malacca today is full with many different races and religion which also bring in many different cultures with them. The application are equipped with a list of races in Malacca and culture such as the Baba Nyonya with their kebaya fashion, the Portuguese with their dance, the Malays, the Chinese and the Indians. There will also be interactions with the users to make the application more interesting to go about with.
  3. Places of Interest, this aspect is done by Tan Lai Yan. Various, famous and interesting tourist attractions in Malacca will be introduced here. All the places of interest will be categorized into few main sections such as shopping, historical buildings and night life. Under each category, various must-visit places in Malacca will be introduce with description such as games included as well.
  4. Local Cuisine, this aspect will be done by Cindy Dharmapala. “A way to every men’s heart is through his stomach”. Malacca is obviously well-known for its famous local cuisines. The moment you step foot in Malacca, you would want to have a taste of its main attraction; Cendol. From the ever famous Jonker Street to the Clock Tower, you will find varieties of mouth watering Cendol. Besides Cendol, this aspect will cover the popular Indian restaurants, such as Selvam Restaurant. Also, not to be missed is the local delicacies such as the savory ‘kuih-muih’. There will also be several interactions with this application.
